Show Information:

Recording Information:

Good audience recording. 67:27. "My Time" is missing the first half or so. The taper seems to be a big fan of the band and can occasionally be heard saying stuff like, "I love this part right here."

Notable Moments:

Earliest known performance of "Then She Did".

Instead of improv poetry, Perry sings "Oh, Baby" a bunch of times in the breakdown section of "Pigs".

"This guy here, I've seen this guy all over the state. There's a couple people I see every fucking time we play. They don't think we notice 'em. Like her, her, her, her. You're never here, man. Where the fuck are you? He says he's jerking off at home. I don't blame you."

Perry mentions to the crowd that it was Casey's birthday.

The busy local schedule of Firehose might make the San Pedro trio one of the easier to see groups in rock right now, but don't take them for granted. The band is far too good to avoid major success much longer. Combine the flat-out excitement of the early Who, the uniquely skewed musical vision of a Captain Beefheart and the chops of King Crimson and you'll get a rough idea of what Firehose musters up onstage. The band performs Wednesday night at 8 p.m. with the Screaming Trees and the Tarbabies at Bogarts in Long Beach. Call (213) 594-8975.Seats earlier this week were still available for David Bowie's Wednesday night show at the LA Sports Arena. However, it's the closing night of his world tour, which might make it something of a special occasion for all concerned, and tickets won't last much longer. Call 740-2000.

Locally, the solid new wave pop of Dramarama will be on tap at the Coach House Saturday at 9 p.m. Call 496-8930. Tonight at 9 Big Johns in Anaheim offers World's Cutest Killers, 3-D Picnic and Black Daphne. Saturday at the same time will be Chris D and the Divine Horsemen. Call 870-0850.

Upcoming: The Nov. 17 show of U2 with the Pretenders at the LA Coliseum goes on sale Saturday at 8 a.m. at Ticketron and TicketMaster outlets (except for May Co. stores) and at the LA Sports Arena box office. Tickets will be $19.50.

Upcoming shows at the Coach House include Jane's Addiction on Oct. 17, T.S.O.L. on Oct. 25, David Lindley and Harry Dean Stanton on Nov. 1, Al DeMeola on Nov. 8., ex-Door Ray Manzarek with poet Michael McClure on Nov. 18 and Branford Marsalis on Nov. 28.
