This highly disputed date comes from page 59 of Dave Thompson's book "Saga of a Hypster". This show is referenced as taking place "around March 1986" in "a Top 40 club" located "somewhere in Orange County", with Eric and Perry opening up for "a top 40 cover band".
Based on the March 1986 date, this show (if it happened), would have taken place between 3/21/86 and 3/29/86 and would have been Dave Navarro and Steve Perkins' second show as members of Jane's Addiction. However, neither Dave or Steve are mentioned in the book as being part of this show. Instead, the gig is described as Eric and Perry playing as a duo. So the timeline simply makes no sense.
This is most likely actually referring to one of the Illuminotic gigs that took place in 1985 vs. an actual Jane's Addiction performance.
