Idiots Rule (Vol. 1)

Idiots Rule (Vol. 1) is disc one of an Australian two disc silverback CD bootleg set from Apple House / Banana.  The disc advertises itself as having live recordings from 1987 and 1991, but this is not the case.  This version pairs a set of popular old Jane’s Addiction concerts.  The first is the November 13, 1986 show at The Pyramid in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA.  The last half of this disc uses the April 28, 1989 show at the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA.  This disc makes it well known that it is an unauthorized recording, which was done apparently to get around local copyright laws.  This bootleg is nearly identical to Idiots Rule (v3).

Alternate Versions:

There are two versions of this bootleg. The first with the red banner across the top and bottom with the word “unauthorized” stamped across this. The other version, which is from Japan, lacks the “unauthorized” labellings and comes with an OBI card. They are otherwise identical.

  1. Tracks 9-16 do not match up with the setlist for the date 4/28/89. The songs Moutain Song, Ain’t No Right and Chip Away are not listed on the setlist for that show.

    • You are right, and there is no JAFT show that the tracks match identically. I don’t have this disc, so I’ll have to do some digging into it.
