JANE’S ADDICTION–singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, and drummer Stephen Perkins–and producer Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol) recently added TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek to the creative team.  Sitek, best known for his production work on TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Foals, will be writing and playing bass on the new album.

The band—who wrote the rule book for alternative music and culture through a combination of genre-defying classic songs and a cinematic live experience–is recording their fourth studio album in Los Angeles, tentatively scheduled for a summer of 2011 release on Capitol Records.

“Dave, Steve and I are fully immersed in the process of making modern music,” says Perry Farrell.  “It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential.”

“This process has been both inspiring and incredibly freeing,” says Dave Navarro. “The events over the last year have proven themselves to be a necessary part of the journey as they have led us to our current creative team and direction.”

TV On The Radio man replaces Duff McKagan on four-string duties

TV On The Radio mainman and producer Dave Sitek is to help write and play bass on ‘s new album.

Sitek replaces former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, the band confirmed to Spinner. McKagan had been due to play on the follow up to 2003’s ‘Strays’. He left during the early stages of recording, citing “creative differences”.

It seems unlikely that Sitek will tour with the band, however. When Jane’s Addiction played a New Year’s Eve show in Aspen, Colorado, Chris Chaney, a former full-time member of the band, played bass.

Aside from the revolving doors of potential bass players, little is known about the forthcoming Jane’s Addiction album. The only comment about the record from frontman Perry Farrell has been to say that he and his bandmates are “fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential”.

Muse and Glasvegas producer Rich Costey has been confirmed to produce the album.

Sitek has produced albums for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars and most recently Holly Miranda. He is also a founding member of TV On The Radio, and released his own solo album under the Maximum Balloon name last September.
