Jane’s Addiction playing Stand Up For Skateparks

Etty Farrell re-tweeted the following from Tony Hawk:

Jane’s Addiction is playing at our next Stand Up For Skateparks fundraiser! It’s like Spicoli getting Van Halen to play at his birthday.

According to the Stand Up For Skateparks website, the next event is Sunday October 17, 2010 in Beverly Hills, CA at the Green Acres Estate from 12-4pm.  The site makes no mention of Jane’s yet, so we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.

The Recording Process Has Begun

There have been tweets and facebook posting keeping us up to date on the writing process since Jane’s Addiction began work on new material earlier this year. Dave mentioned on his Dark Matter show last night that the band were in the studio yesterday working on pre-production and that no tape rolled. Today however Dave tweeted the following:

That Rumored London Gig with RATM?

Remember that rumor late last month about Jane’s Addiction playing the free “Rage Factor” gig on June 6 in London with Rage Against The Machine?  Well if such a plan was in the works, things must have fallen through.  The show is just under three weeks away, and no one in the Jane’s camp has confirmed this show.  Even more telling is that the originators of this rumor, The Daily swarm, updated their article with the press release for the event.  The press release lists the guests as confirmed and includes times for each act.  Who is not on that list?  Jane’s Addiction.  You can see the press release after the jump.

Jane’s Addiction @ The Bardot Posters

The two limited edition posters created by the Colby Poster Printing Company for the semi-secret Jane’s Addiction Cinco de Mayo show at The Bardot in Hollywood can now be bought online.  These posters were printed in limited quantities and given to the band to give away.  A handful of people who were at the front of the line, after waiting out front all day, at The Bardot were given a copy of the all-yellow poster, while a very limited number of people were given the gradient version.  Both posters are printed on heavy card stock.  You can order those posters from Dance Right at the following links:

Cinco de Mayo Jane’s Addiction Style (Pt. 4)

This is part 4 in a 4 part article series about our trip out to L.A. to see Jane’s Addiction.

Mike and I now have an hour to get from the fourth floor basement of the Los Angeles Public Library in Downtown L.A. back to Hollywood and find the Guitar Center on Sunset.  We return our research sources with a bit of a heavy heart, knowing that there was some golden info about classic Jane’s shows to be found, yet without hesitation as we were about to see Jane’s Addiction perform again for the second time in less than 24 hours.  We had no idea what they were doing at Guitar Center, but it didn’t matter.  They wanted us there, and we wanted to be there. Cinco de Mayo Jane’s Addiction Style (Pt. 3)

This is part 3 in a 4 part article series about our trip out to L.A. to see Jane’s Addiction.  Look for the conclusion in part 4 tomorrow.

Thursday morning, my internal alarm clock woke me up around 7am PDT.  So I proceeded to go through the pictures I took at The Bardot.  I knew there were a ton of them; I just didn’t know how many turned out.  Well in the end, I had well over 300 new pictures on the camera.  Unfortunately, around two-thirds to three-quarters were unusable.  Of course that left well over 80 that were okay, and after I took out some redundant images and personal shots, I had 75 to upload to JanesAddiction.org.

Cinco de Mayo Jane’s Addiciton Style (Pt. 2)

This is part 2 in a 4 part article series about our trip out to L.A. to see Jane’s Addiction. Sorry for the delay in posting this.  Look for part 3 sometime tomorrow.

Mike and I were introduced to the guy who runs The Bardot, a nice guy who gets us some free drinks. He mentions that he wants to help get the hardcore Jane’s fans into the VIP section right up by the stage and mentions the possibility of us getting to pull a few fans that we know into the VIP section.  Unfortunately that didn’t pan out, and I am guessing it was in the end due to the VIP section being pretty full with the regular guests.  We’d really hoped to get Barton in there with us, as he is pretty much as old school of a Jane’s fan as you can get. He was still able to secure a spot right up by Duff. So in the end it all worked out. Continue reading
