This year Perry Farrell will take Lollapalooza,which was once known as a “traveling festival”, across the seas to Santiago, Chile. The festival has been grounded at the beautiful Grant Park in Chicago, IL since 2005.
As we reported yesterday, Duff McKagan has left Jane’s Addiction. Duff spent the last month recording a new album with his band Loaded, and maybe the rest of the guys knew what was coming. Today Perry posted the following on his Facebook page:
I met with an inspiring fellow tonight. Someone whom I admire for his creativity, and off beat genius. We listened to passionate music together. I found myself aroused… I can’t tell you who he is. He recommended we listen to Henrik Gorecki The 3rd symphony w/ Dawn Upshaw singing. It overcame me…
Does the band already have someone in mind to fill this important vacancy in the band? It sounds like it:
I love Rich Costey. We are about to add a new collaborator to our team that I met with tonight. This person is a genius, and an innovator. I will tell more in 10 days time…

Jane’s is heading up to the Sunset Strip. Returning to the location of our first recording; The Roxy this Friday night. I’m serious. There will be some tickets given away through the week. I will get more details tomorrow. I am looking for a local performance artist to startle my friends.
The Lollapalooza 2010 schedule has been announced. Perry Farrell will be performing at “Perry’s” on August 7, and at Kidzapalooza on August 8. Peter DiStefano will also be performing the Kidzapalooza stage on August 8 with Tor.
Yesterday Perry and Tor Hyams (co-founder of Kidzapalooza) released the following video via Facebook announcing the line up for the 2010 Kidzapalooza stage.

Mike and I were introduced to the guy who runs The Bardot, a nice guy who gets us some free drinks. He mentions that he wants to help get the hardcore Jane’s fans into the VIP section right up by the stage and mentions the possibility of us getting to pull a few fans that we know into the VIP section. Unfortunately that didn’t pan out, and I am guessing it was in the end due to the VIP section being pretty full with the regular guests. We’d really hoped to get Barton in there with us, as he is pretty much as old school of a Jane’s fan as you can get. He was still able to secure a spot right up by Duff. This is part 1 in a 4 part article series about our trip out to L.A. to see Jane’s Addiction. We’re posting one part per day over the next four days.
How do two guys who live near the Great Lakes get out to Los Angeles to see Jane’s Addiction? By going to North Carolina of course! Well, that’s at least what Mike and I did. We met up at the airport in Charlotte, NC for our flight to LAX. Thanks to a little bit of seat switching, Mike and I were able to sit together. We were both groggy from lack of sleep, but we were excited at what the day would bring. We had five and a half hours to talk Jane’s and make our plans for our two-day adventure in L.A. Of course not all our plans would work out, but neither of us is complaining. This was the start of an amazing journey.
