Another New Bassist Already Lined Up?

As we reported yesterday, Duff McKagan has left Jane’s Addiction.  Duff spent the last month recording a new album with his band Loaded, and maybe the rest of the guys knew what was coming.  Today Perry posted the following on his Facebook page:

I met with an inspiring fellow tonight. Someone whom I admire for his creativity, and off beat genius. We listened to passionate music together. I found myself aroused… I can’t tell you who he is. He recommended we listen to Henrik Gorecki The 3rd symphony w/ Dawn Upshaw singing. It overcame me…

Does the band already have someone in mind to fill this important vacancy in the band?  It sounds like it:

I love Rich Costey. We are about to add a new collaborator to our team that I met with tonight. This person is a genius, and an innovator. I will tell more in 10 days time…

Duff McKagan Leaves Jane’s Addiction

Duff McKagan, who joined Jane’s Addiction six months ago, has left the band apparently to focus on his band Loaded. Yesterday, Perry posted the following on Twitter:

Jane’s wishes Duff much luck with his band Loaded. What a fun time we all had working together. Look out for his record and tour this fall.

The following is from NME:

Duff McKagan has left Jane’s Addiction after spending six months as part of the band.

The departure of the bassist, who was in Guns N’ Roses from 1985 to 1998, was announced via an email from the band to fans, reports ABC News.

“We wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record,” the band wrote. “We love the songs we worked on with him – and the gigs were a blast – but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him gabapentin all the best.”

McKagan had worked on Jane’s Addiction’s forthcoming new album, which will be their first in seven years, and had played some shows with them.

McKagan joined the set-up when he replaced Eric Avery, who left Jane’s Addiction last March.

Jane’s Addiction at Activision’s E3 Event in Los Angeles

As predicted, Jane’s Addiction played Been Caught Stealing and Mountain Song at Activision’s E3 event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last night.  We’d previously described it as a Guitar Hero event, but the event was actually celebrating all of Activision’s upcoming titles including DJ Hero and Call of Dudy: Spec-Ops.

Jane’s Addiction playing E3 / Guitar Hero Event Monday

Dave Navarro tweeted the following just a few minutes ago.

We are playing 2 songs at E3/Guitar Hero event on Monday… We made sure to get 10 pairs of tickets to give away. More to come…

E3 is the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, which kicks off this Monday.

UPDATE (6/13): According to another tweet from Dave, Jane’s will be playing at 9pm at the Staple Center.  They’ll be playing “playing 2 songs (that appear in video games)”, which should be Mountain Song and Been Caught Stealing as the first appeared in Guitar Hero World Tour and the latter is set to appear in Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock.

Interestingly enough is that both songs appear in the rival Rock Band series of games as well.  Mountain Song appears in Rock Band 2 and Been Caught Stealing is set to appear in Rock Band 3.  The entire Nothing’s Shocking album is available as download-able content for Rock Band.

Jane’s Addiction @ The Bardot Posters

The two limited edition posters created by the Colby Poster Printing Company for the semi-secret Jane’s Addiction Cinco de Mayo show at The Bardot in Hollywood can now be bought online.  These posters were printed in limited quantities and given to the band to give away.  A handful of people who were at the front of the line, after waiting out front all day, at The Bardot were given a copy of the all-yellow poster, while a very limited number of people were given the gradient version.  Both posters are printed on heavy card stock.  You can order those posters from Dance Right at the following links:
